Burdel Co-Operative Advancement Society is a Home Care Providing Organisation/Housing Co-Operative based in North Queensland.

The organisation was founded in 1975 to establish a housing Co-Operative to provide rental accommodation to Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islanders and Australian South Sea Island families in the Burdekin Region. Since then, Burdel has grown as an Organisation now offering Home and Aged Care Services to all approved elders in the Burdekin Region.

If you are an older person who needs coordination services to help you live comfortably in your own home, you may be eligible for a home care package or other services we provide.

To apply for Burdel Services you will need to contact My Aged Care on 1800 200 422, you will be provided a referral number and from there, Burdel will assess your eligibility and depending on our capacity, we will do our best to provide the services you are applying for. This can take up to three months, for your referral to be processed. Please call our friendly staff on (07) 4783 3680 for any questions and concerns.

Burdel Co-Operative Advancement Society provides the following:

  • Community and home support
  • Domestic Assistance – household jobs like cleaning and laundry
  • Personal Care – help with bathing, showering, and getting dressed.
  • Home Maintenance - minor general repairs and care of your house and gardens, for example

Changing light bulbs or replacing tap washers.

  • Home Modifications – minor installation of safety aids such as, alarms, ramps, and support rails in and around your home
  • Nursing Care – A qualified nurse to dress a wound or provide continence advice in your own home.
  • Social Support – Social activities in a community-based group program in our Burdekin Office
  • Transport – help getting people out and about for shopping and to appointments etc.
  • Food Services – Meals to those that require this, in the community.
  • Allied Health Support Services
  • Respite Care

Who is Bur-Del?

 

Bur-Del Co-operative Advancement Society Limited is a housing co-operative based in North Queensland. 

 

The organisation was founded in 1975 to establish a housing co-operative to provide rental accommodation to Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and Australian South Sea Islander families in the Burdekin region. Bur-Del aims to provide affordable and culturally appropriate housing to its tenants. 

 

Bur-Del owns and manages 38 houses, four units with two bedrooms and 30 one-bedroom units. Bur-Del tenancy manages five units with two bedrooms under Community Housing.

How can I apply for Bur-Del’s services?

To apply for Bur-Del’s services, you need to contact My Aged Care to provide you with a referral number. From there, we will assess your eligibility for the service you have applied for.
